JOB TITLE: APPRENTICE COOK

Reports to: FC Kitchens Inc. Kitchen Manager

Hourly wage: $12.25 - $14.00

Hours per week: Permanent, full-time, 36

Job location: 65 Brunswick Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for compliance with industry food safety standards;

  • Assists in all aspects of food preparation and presentation as needed;

  • Follow provincial safety and security policies and procedures in the kitchen environment;

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, guests and volunteers;

  • Protect the privacy and security of guest, coworkers and volunteers;

  • Ensure proper food rotation with fresh and frozen inventory;

  • Maintain cleanliness in work and food storage areas and common areas including the ramp, dining hall, and garbage collection areas;

  • Ensure dress code and appearance follow the facility policy;

  • Perform all other duties as required.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience in an industrial kitchen – 1 year;

  • Basic food safety training or other recognized food safety certification;

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificate; 

  • First Aid Training - considered an asset;

  • Security and safety: bondable, criminal record check;

  • Must have a valid driver’s license;

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings and afternoons - no evenings.
